The 13.3-mile LBJ TEXpress Lanes in Dallas run east to west, from Luna Road all the way to Greenville Avenue on I-635. In addition, elevated ramps on I-35E allow drivers to bypass the I-35E/635 interchange and travel from I-635 south to the I-35E/Loop 12 split, and north to just before Valley View Lane. Portions of the LBJ TEXpress Lanes flow through a canyon located below the I-635 general highway lanes.
The 635 East HOV/Express Lanes and the I-35E TEXpress Lanes, operated and managed by the Texas Department of Transportation, are not part of the LBJ TEXpress Lanes. The 635 East HOV/Express Lanes started construction April 27, 2020 and will be closed until late 2024. At that time, they will re-open as Managed Toll (TEXpress) Lanes.
The LBJ TEXpress Lanes, as well as the I-635 general highway lanes and frontage roads from I-35E to Coit Road, are operated and managed by LBJ Infrastructure Group, a private developer.
Carpool and vanpool drivers, as well as motorcyclists, qualify for an HOV discount on the LBJ TEXpress Lanes. Pricing signs before each LBJ TEXpress Lanes entrance display the toll price for the active HOV period. During non-HOV periods on the LBJ TEXpress Lanes, the pricing signs display the full toll price for all vehicles.
