WEEKEND CLOSURES ON EASTBOUND LBJ TEXPRESS LANES AT TI BLVD

On Friday, January 19, from 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. on Monday, January 22, the following closures will be in place:

  • Continuous closure of the eastbound LBJ TEXpress Lanes between Preston and Greenville Avenue. Drivers must exit at Coit Road (Exit T-20 Coit Rd/US 75).
  • The TI Boulevard entrance ramp will be open, but drivers will not be able to turn left to access the eastbound LBJ TEXpress Lanes.
    • Drivers can still turn right to access the westbound LBJ TEXpress Lanes.

Additionally, there will be nightly closures from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. on both Friday, January 19 and Saturday, January 20.  Please see the closures listed below:

  • Various lane closures (with one lane open) on eastbound I-635 between TI Boulevard to Greenville Avenue.
  • Eastbound entrance to the I-635 East HOV/Express Lanes at Greenville Avenue will be closed.
  • The full entrance ramp from US 75 to the eastbound general highway lanes on I-635 will be closed.
  • The full Greenville exit ramp from eastbound I-635 general highway lanes will be closed.
    • If drivers want to access Greenville Avenue, they can exit at TI Boulevard and take the detour that will be in place.

After the completion of this work, drivers taking the TI Boulevard entrance ramp will access the eastbound LBJ TEXpress and must continue onto the I-635 East HOV/Express Lanes that TxDOT manages.

Drivers wishing to access the free eastbound general highway lanes on I-635, must continue onto I-635 East HOV/Express Lanes and take the first available exit ramp onto eastbound I-635.

The work being done in this area will decrease traffic congestion, and drivers can expect increased mobility.

This work is weather-permitting. Updated closure information is posted on Twitter (@LBJExpress) and Facebook (facebook.com/thelbjexpress). Daily closure information is listed on the LBJ TEXpress Lanes website at http://www.lbjtexpress.com/roadway-info/lane-closures.

This work is part of the $2.6 billion LBJ Express project, which began in 2011 and was completed in September 2015, included the reconstruction of expanded frontage lanes and main lanes, as well as the addition of bypass lanes and TEXpress managed lanes along IH 635 between Luna Rd. and Greenville Ave. and IH 35E between Loop 12 and Valley View Ln. in Dallas.  This expansive reconstruction project is successfully alleviating traffic congestion along one of the busiest highway corridors in the state, with as many as 250,000 cars traveling the stretch daily.

Drivers are encouraged to “Know Before They Go,” and visit https://www.texpresslanes.com/ or (@LBJExpress) and (facebook.com/thelbjexpress).) for upcoming closures. Closures are subject to weather conditions, and construction activities may be postponed if necessary.
