FORT WORTH, Texas – The North Tarrant Express 35W project is opening a new entrance to the southbound I-35W TEXpress Managed Lane from Heritage Trace Parkway. The early opening of the ramp is scheduled to occur the evening of Monday, May 1, in time for peak travel on Tuesday morning.
This newly completed ramp will help improve mobility and provide motorists with another choice in how to reach their destination. It is located in north Fort Worth along I-35W just north of the US 287/US 81 Decatur split, in a high-density area with expansive shopping and dining.
“This new on-ramp will provide better accessibility to the much larger managed lane network in North Texas and significantly alleviate congestion for drivers headed south on I-35W through AllianceTexas,” said Paco Galdeano, COO of NTE 35W.
This progress comes on the heels of an operation early Sunday morning, April 30, in which the final beams of the construction project – of 500 total – were placed just north of the I-35W-SH 170 interchange. For a video clip of the operation, please click here.
This work is part of the $950-million North Tarrant Express 35W project. This 7.2-mile section of I-35W from N. Tarrant Parkway to Eagle Parkway in Fort Worth consists of improvements with the reconstruction of main lanes, expanded frontage roads, and the addition of TEXpress Lanes.
Drivers are encouraged to “Know Before They Go,” and visit www.texpresslanes.com for upcoming closures. Closures are subject to weather conditions, and construction activities may be postponed if necessary.
