The North Tarrant Express project features 10.1 miles of NTE 35W TEXpress Lanes flowing north and south on I-35W from downtown Fort Worth to north of US 287, in addition to13.3 miles of NTE TEXpress Lanes on I-820 (Northeast Loop) and SH-121/183 (Airport Freeway). In total, the North Tarrant Express project consists of 23.4 miles of TEXpress Lanes in Tarrant County, helping to significantly relieve congestion by nearly doubling the infrastructure capacity. The project will also improve safety and reliability, while providing for anticipated traffic growth in one of the country’s fastest-developing regions.
Construction along the NTE 35W TEXpress Lanes began in 2013 consisting of reconstructed interchanges, additional highway capacity and upgraded existing facilities to optimize operations. As of 2018, all 10.1 miles of NTE 35W TEXpress Lanes are now open.
