On Tuesday, October 29, the North Tarrant Express I-35W project team accepted the Engineering News-Record Texas & Louisiana Best Project 2019 Award. The award ceremony was held in Houston, Texas at the JW Marriot Hotel. The project won in the category of Best Highway/Bridge 2019 and was highlighted with a feature story in the October issue of the ENR Texas & Louisiana magazine.

Members from the project team in attendance were Korey D. Coburn, P.E., TxDOT Project Manager; Francisco Manuel Galdeano Moreno, COO for NTE 35W; Robert Hinkle, Cintra & North Texas Corporate Affairs; Heather DeLapp, National Sr. PR Manager at Ferrovial Agroman US; Kyle Freeman, Safety Manager for NTI; Justin Benge, NTI Construction Manager.

The top award-winning regional projects will automatically go on to compete in the national competition to win the 2019 ENR’s Best of the Best Projects Awards.

This is the second award won by the North Tarrant Express 35W project since its opening in July 2018. In April, the project was honored by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) with the 2019 JLT Build America Award in the Design-Build Civil category.

The first two phases of the 35W project are operational and exceeding expectations for congestion relief and traffic management. The third phase of 35W (Segment 3C) is approved, design is underway and construction will begin in 2020.
