Do you have a TollTag or EZ TAG?

You'll pay lower rates and be eligible for HOV discounts on the TEXpress Lanes if you already have a toll transponder (AKA tag).

If you don’t have a TollTag or EZ TAG, you can still use the TEXpress Lanes. Our tolling equipment will simply photograph your vehicle license plate and then our billing partner, the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA), will send a ZipCash bill that you can pay online, via phone, by mail or in person at one of NTTA’s Customer Service centers.

The following out-of-state toll tags are accepted on the TEXpress Lanes as well: Pikepass (Oklahoma Turnpike Authority), K-Tag (Kansas Turnpike Authority), ExpressToll (Colorado E-470 Public Highway Authority), and SunPass (Florida Turnpike Enterprise).

Non-tag customers pay up to 100% higher rates, depending on the roadway, for processing and collection (video transaction toll premiums). Click here to learn more about ZipCash bills.

TxTag will continue to invoice and collect for transactions that occurred on or before Nov. 8, 2024. If you receive a bill from TxTag for past due tolls, contact the TxTag Call Center or visit the two Austin-area customer service centers to resolve the bill as soon as possible to avoid additional fees and collection notices.

Customers with positive balances will receive a refund in the coming months. Please note, refund checks will be voided if not deposited within 180 days and the monies will be transferred to the Texas Comptroller’s Office in accordance with the state’s unclaimed property process.

Toll Payment Service Accounts

Toll payment service accounts are offered by various providers, allowing drivers to access and manage their accounts conveniently from their phones or desktops without the need to purchase a toll transponder or mount a toll sticker.

How it works: These accounts enable you to sign up for a toll payment service directly from your phone. The service typically operates without requiring a toll transponder, though some providers offer the option to order a toll tag or transponder if desired. The system uses license plate capture at toll points and matches the information with your registered account.

Payment: While toll payment service accounts do not mandate the purchase of toll tags, they require a payment method to be linked to your account for toll charges. Pricing models vary depending on the provider. Some services charge a monthly subscription fee for your vehicles or account, others require maintaining a minimum balance, while some operate on a per-toll or pay-as-you-go basis without a minimum balance requirement.

Toll Pricing & Discounts: While toll discounts are typically unavailable, users may benefit from referral credits or occasional promotions.

Best For: This option suits both frequent and infrequent toll users, as well as visitors who prefer not to maintain a minimum balance or purchase a toll transponder. It’s ideal for those seeking a toll account with extensive coverage manageable from a single account, covering multiple vehicles without minimum balance requirements, and avoiding the high fees and penalties of toll-by-mail.
