Only one lane will be open during maintenance operations; frontage roads and TEXpress lanes will provide alternate routes
DALLAS (OCTOBER 31, 2025) – Beginning next week, there will be an overnight, near-complete closure of eastbound I-635/LBJ Freeway main lanes between Preston Road and Park Central Drive. The closure on Thursday, November 6, will allow workers to prepare for and perform resurfacing work and routine maintenance on the Park Central Drive bridge, which will take place November 7 through 10, closing four of five eastbound lanes all weekend.
The closures will be as follows:
- Thursday, November 6, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.: four of five eastbound main lanes will be closed overnight between Preston Road and Park Central Drive
- Friday, November 7 at 9 p.m. until Monday, November 10 at 5 a.m.: four of five eastbound main lanes will be closed continuously between Preston Road and Park Central Drive from Friday night until Monday morning
Drivers should anticipate significant delays due to the closures. For alternate routes, drivers can utilize the continuous eastbound frontage roads or the eastbound TEXpress lanes, which have entry points at I-35E north and south; Webb Chapel Road; and Preston Road. The eastbound TEXpress lanes in the work zone will be open and free during the continuous closure.
“We make every effort to minimize disruptions to traffic flows along the busy LBJ corridor,” said Robert Hinkle, Director of Corporate Affairs, for LBJ Infrastructure Group. “However, these periodic operations are essential to ensuring a safe, smooth roadway for drivers and are an important part of the maintenance work we do – and have done – 24/7 since opening the reconstructed highway 10 years ago,” Hinkle added.
This work is weather permitting and may be postponed if there is inclement weather. Updated closure information is posted daily on Twitter (@TEXpressAlerts) and Facebook (@TEXpressLanes), as well as on the TEXpress lanes website at www.texpresslanes.com
The LBJ Express project, a $2.7 billion, 13.3-mile highway corridor in Dallas, opened on September 10, 2015. The reconstructed corridor spans along I-635/LBJ Freeway from I-35E to just east of US 75 and remains of the most innovative, congestion-management projects in North Texas.
