I-635 East HOV/Express Lanes

The HOV (high occupancy vehicle) lanes on I-635 from US 75 to I-30 have been transitioned into HOV/Express Lanes, a form of TEXpress Lanes. Drivers with at least one additional passenger and motorcyclists will continue to use the lanes at no cost if they have a valid toll tag and register as an HOV user online. Solo drivers and vehicles with no toll tag will be able to use them for a fee. The *I-635 East HOV/Express Lanes are separate from the LBJ TEXpress Lanes on I-635, which run from Luna Road to Greenville Avenue and offer HOV drivers a 50% HOV discount during weekday rush hours.

*Construction to transform the I-635 East HOV/Express Lanes into the I-635 East TEXpress Lanes is tentatively scheduled to start in late 2020.

Zero tolls on the 635 East HOV/Express Lanes are:

  • Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for HOV drivers and motorcyclists 
    • A.M. Period: 12:00 a.m. (midnight) to 11:59 a.m.
    • P.M. Period: 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 11:59 p.m.
  • Exclusive to I-635 East (from US 75 to I-30*)

  *Does not include TI Boulevard ramp

The I-635 East HOV/Express Lanes are operated and managed by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The I-635 East HOV/Express Lanes are not an extension of the LBJ TEXpress Lanes, which are operated and managed by LBJ Infrastructure Group, a private developer.
