Drive On TEXpress Mobile App How-To Guide

Follow the step-by-step instructions below to register for your Drive On TEXpress account. Learn how to activate and cancel your HOV status, schedule your HOV status using the calendar and more.

How to Create Your Drive On TEXpress Account

Click on the REGISTER button.

   

Fill in the ACCOUNT INFORMATION:

  • Enter an Email Address or Cell Phone Number (only one is required) to use as your log in ID
  • Enter your ZIP Code
  • Enter your Password, then re-type it for confirmation
  • Choose a Security Question and type in your answer

The rest of the fields is optional and can be modified in the user settings at any time.     

Register Account       

Click the NEXT button, in the top navigation bar, to access the Vehicle Information screen.

Tap ADD VEHICLE to add a vehicle. 

  • You may add up to 5 vehicles on your account (but only one user can be logged in)
  • Enter each vehicle's license plate number and state where the license plate was issued
  • Enter each vehicle's TollTag, TxTag or EZ TAG number (tag number) Ex: DNT.12345678, TEX.12345678

   

The rest of the fields is optional and can be filled in or updated in the "My Vehicles" settings at any time. You also have the ability to:

  • Give each vehicle a nickname/account name, such as “John’s Honda,” to help you identify them quickly
  • Insert a photograph of each vehicle
  • Add the make, model and year of each vehicle                 

Click the SUBMIT button and that's it!

  • You'll receive an email with an activation link (simply follow it) that must be used within 24 hours (or it expires) or an SMS with an activation code that must also be used within 24 hours
  • If your email or SMS activation code expires, you will need to restart the registration process.

How to Sign In              

Sign In

Click the SIGN IN button on the splash screen.                                  

Enter your "User ID" (email or cell phone number) and "Password."                         

Click on the blue SIGN IN bar.

   

           

Activating the Account by Email (for first-time log in)

If you received an email with a link, simply click on the link within 24 hours (otherwise it will expire) and your account will be activated. If your link expires, you will need to restart the registration process.

 

Activating the Account by SMS (for first-time log in)

If you received an SMS with an activation code, perform the following steps within 24 hours (before the code expires) otherwise yo will need to restart the registration process:

Click on the SIGN IN bar in the splash screen.

Click on ACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT! on the log in screen.

Enter the code you received, then click on ACTIVATE. You will receive confirmation that the activation was successful.

  •  If your activation code expires, you will need to restart the registration process.                

 Did You Forget Your Password? 

Click on the SIGN IN button on the splash screen.           

Click on "FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD?” in the log in screen.           

    

Type your user ID (email address or cell phone number). You will receive either an email with a link, if you provided an email address, or an activation code, if you provided a cell phone number. Either can be used to reactivate your account.   

If you received an email with a link, follow the previous email steps, within 24 hours (otherwise the link will expire). If you received an SMS, click on the I HAVE AN SMS RESET CODE button and follow the steps described in the account activation process within 24 hours (otherwise the link will expire).

Using Drive On TEXpress Without Vehicles

Since vehicle registration is an optional step to create a Drive On TEXpress account, if no vehicles are registered, you will find a slightly different HOME screen after you have signed in. 

Without any vehicles registered, you will have access to Drive On TEXpress except for the following features:

  • HOV Status Activation and Cancellation
  • HOV Schedule
  • Discounts
  • Voice Recognition

If you want to enjoy all Drive On TEXpress features, you need to register at least one vehicle in your account as referenced in the "How to Register Vehicles" section of this tutorial.

If you need technical support, please indicate that you do not have any vehicles in your account when you contact support@DriveOnTEXpress.com.

How to Register Vehicles

On the HOME screen, click on the MY VEHICLES button. This button is enabled regardless of whether you have registered any vehicles or not.

Tap ADD VEHICLE to add a vehicle: 

  • You may to add up to 5 vehicles on your account (but only one user can be logged in)
  • Enter each vehicle's License Plate Number and State where the license plate was issued
  • Enter each vehicle's TollTag, TxTag or EZ TAG number (Tag Number, not Account Number) such as DNT.12345678 (enter the issuer and period, if applicable)

The rest of the fields are optional and can be filled in or updated in the "My Vehicles" settings at any time. You also have the ability to:                       

  • Give each vehicle a nickname/account name, such as John’s Honda, to help you identify them quickly
  • Insert a photograph of each vehicle
  • Add the make, model and year of each vehicle

Click the DONE button in the top bar and that's it!

How to Activate or Cancel Your HOV Status

Activate Your HOV Status

The HOV status activation is only available if you have registered at least one vehicle on your account.           

Click on the ACTIVATE MY HOV STATUS NOW arrow in the blue bar at the top and that's it!    

  

  • The top bar will change to "HOV PENDING" and show a countdown prior to your requested HOV activation period

  

  • Remember to request your HOV status activation at least 15 minutes prior to physically entering the TEXpress Lanes, otherwise you will not be eligible for the an HOV discount
  • The discount will only be applied to the "Current Vehicle" selected NOTE: The HOV discount can only be applied to one vehicle on your account. Therefore, if you have multiple vehicles added, review your vehicle selection to ensure you have selected the desired one.
  • The top bar will change to "HOV ACTIVE" once your HOV status has been successfully activated. In addition, a countdown will inform you how much time remains before the HOV period expires

   

NOTE: The HOV periods vary depending on the roadway, and some TEXpress Lanes corridors do not offer HOV discounts on Saturdays and Sundays. Click on the HOV Info button, located at the bottom of the home screen, to view the HOV periods and dates.   

 

Cancel Your HOV Status

The HOV status cancellation is only available if you have registered at least one vehicle.           

Once your HOV status has been requested or activated, you can cancel it at any time by clicking on the CANCEL HOV button.                       

  • If you are in the HOV Pending status the HOV bar deactivates immediately
  • If you are in the HOV Active status, it will take approximately 10 minutes for your status to be canceled.

 NOTE: If you enter the TEXpress Lanes during the HOV period as a solo driver before the 10 minutes have expired (before your HOV status completes its cancellation), you could be fined by law enforcement personnel.

          

 

Switch the Active Vehicle

Click on the light blue MY VEHICLES button.

Check the desired vehicle as ACTIVE.

   

          

Managing Your HOV Status by SMS

Managing your HOV status by SMS is only possible if you have registered at least one vehicle. You can send the following messages by SMS (+1 972-992-7628) to activate or cancel your HOV status.

For instant HOV Activation enter the following text: 

  • ACTIVATE  (Optional: Include your Vehicle License Plate Number. By default if no license plate number is provided, the active vehicle is chosen instead)
  • CANCEL  (Optional: Include your Vehicle License Plate Number. By default if no plate is provided, the selected vehicle is chosen instead)

Using Voice Recognition

How to Turn On/Off Voice Recognition

Go to Settings > Application Settings and slide the button to turn on/off the Voice Recognition feature.

   

When the Voice Recognition feature is turned on, a pop-up window and a voice prompt will provide further details.           

  • You must turn off the Voice Recognition feature to turn off all voice command functionality.

  

Using Voice Recognition to Activate HOV Status 

This functionality requires that you turn on the Voice Recognition feature (see separate instructions).                                                            

Once you turn on the Voice Recognition feature, a pop-up window and voice prompt with instructions will be followed by a delayed beep. As soon as you hear the beep, speak the letters 'H-O-V' clearly into your phone to activate your HOV status, then wait for the confirmation question: "Do you want to activate your HOV status?"                                                

Speak the one-word 'Yes' command to confirm the action 

  • After your command, you will hear an audible 'activating status' confirmation
  • If you speak the 'No' command, an audible 'no action taken' confirmation will follow

     

Using Voice Recognition to Cancel HOV Status

The Voice Recognition feature is only available if you have registered at least one vehicle on your account. This functionality requires that you turn on the Voice Recognition feature (see separate instructions).                       

Once you turn on the Voice Recognition feature (or tap the Drive On TEXpress icon if the feature is on), a pop-up window and voice prompt with instructions will be followed by a delayed beep. As soon as you hear the beep, speak the letters 'H-O-V' clearly into your phone to cancel your HOV status, then wait for the confirmation question: "Do you want to cancel your HOV status?"

How to Schedule Your HOV Status

Schedule Your HOV Status

Click on the orange HOV SCHEDULE button.

   

  •  A calendar of the HOV periods will allow you to schedule up to 7 days in advance from the current day
  • The HOV Schedule displayed corresponds to the vehicle displayed at the top of it (this will be your active vehicle by default)

NOTE: The HOV periods vary depending on the roadway, and most of the TEXpress Lanes corridors do not offer HOV discounts on Saturdays and Sundays. Click on the HOV Info button, located at the bottom of the home screen, to view the HOV periods and days.

  

       

See the Schedule for Other Vehicles                       

Click on the vehicle currently displayed.           

Check the vehicle for the HOV schedule you want to be displayed.

           

Modify Your HOV Schedule

The HOV Schedule feature is only available if you have registered at least one vehicle on your account.                      

Click on the HOV periods that you desire for your HOV status to be activated.                       

  • Selected periods will be displayed in blue
  • To deselect a period, just click on it again

NOTE: The HOV periods vary depending on the roadway, and most of the TEXpress Lanes corridors do not offer HOV discounts on Saturdays and Sundays. Click on the HOV Info button, located at the bottom of the home screen, to view the HOV periods and days.

   

Click on the SUBMIT button, and your schedule configuration will be saved.

                       

Repeat an HOV Schedule Configuration

Click on the REPEAT PREVIOUS SCHEDULE button if you want to load a previous schedule configuration and apply it to the current week, if there was any. If there is no previous schedule to load, you will be notified.

     

Click on the SUBMIT button, and your schedule configuration will be saved.
